alice + oliva is without a doubt, one of my favorite designers to wear for party dresses. i love what stacey bendent, the designer of a+o, did with her collection this fall. she based it off of a modern day auntie mame. so eclectic! i'm obsessed with the flapper era and as you can see in the photos above, there is a flapper vibe to her collection! i'm sold! i love it.

LOVE. (I have no other words)
ReplyDeleteThis collection seems to lack focus to me. Instead of focusing on one particular inspiration and shillouette it seems to be taking me on a time traveling excursion through costume history. I like a lot of the individual pieces, but I don't think I would be able to shop this collection as a closet/wardrobe. My favorite looks are #2: the printed wide leg body suit, seems very 70's to me. #4: the flapper esque dress is so gorgeous. very detailed mixing the printed fabric on top with lace applique at waistline & pleated skirt. [i'd soooooo wear this!] #6: not a fan of the overall look, but like the idea of the fur stole over the shoulder - like the assemetry, but maybe with a different shillouette for the skirt? #7: by far my favorite. The combination of lace and knit in the dress is so delicate. Personally I think this is her most successful piece.
