Humberto Leon and Carol Lim founded Opening Ceremony as a concept boutique to fuse their love of fashion and travel, and their womens SS12 collection encapsulates this twofold passion. They’ve gained inspiration from how different cultures celebrate summer music festivals around the world and translated this into their garments. Influence from Argentina can especially be seen in the use of colour and the attention to craft and folk art elements like raffia, beading, embroidery, crochet and hand painted heels. The rest of the collection is equal parts feminine (seen through pastels, gauzy dresses, big blossoms for the hair), sporty (such as the fluroescent leather trim and metallic crepe de chine), and your cool older sister being a badass in the 90’s (the gingham bomber jackets, chunky patent boots and halter neck dresses).
